Guy hoping to die hits taxi driver with hammer

Early this morning a 31 year old unemployed man sneaked up behind a 41 year old taxi driver taking a wizz in a public toilet at a shrine in Shinjuku and whacked him in the head a few times with a hammer. Two guys passing by heard the driver’s screams and held the attacker until the police arrived. The attacker said he wanted to die, and figured if he killed somebody he’d get the death penalty. Luckily the victim wasn’t seriously injured. Must not have been a sledge hammer.

  1. A couple of weeks ago, in the city where I unfortunately have to call home, a man drove at top speed onto a busy pedestrianized area, running down two shoppers. When a brave bystander tried to pull the bastard out of his car, he pulled a knife, and stabbed him in the stomach. He then jumped back into the car and sped off. If it wasn’t for the quick reactions of one individual, when he pulled a 12 year old girl from the path of the car, it could have been much worse.

Things in my city are getting bad. The country is much worse, and when I think about it, I’m filled with hate and rage at what we have to put up with. The way I get by is usually by not thinking about it.

  2. In both your story and mine about nutjobs who decide for one reason or another to kill random people, it’s lucky that both incidents occurred in countries where it’s difficult to get a hold of firearms. I’m not at all interested in the debate over the right to bear arms, I’m just glad to live in a country where they’re illegal.

  3. I don’t know what it’s like in Japan, but over here in blighty, despite guns being illegal, gun crime is on a dramatic rise. Apparently it’s ‘gang related’, but I don’t always believe that. The news over here has been dominated this year, with stories relating to gun crime. The worst was the story of an 11 year old boy, who was shot dead outside a pub in Liverpool as he played football.

What I don’t understand is where the hell they get the guns from in the first place. Mind you, I haven’t the first clue where I could score some hash, let alone how I could get my hands on a Glock 9mm. I just wish it was the same for everybody else.
