Did Firefox 2.0.0.8 eat your extensions?
When my copy of Mozilla Firefox automatically updated itself last week, it restarted without any extensions installed. in the Tools -> Addons dialog box they were all labeled "…will be installed after restart." I couldn't enable or disable any of them, and restarting did nothing.
Here's how to fix it:
- Quit Firefox.
- Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\(random_letters_and_numbers).default
- Delete extensions.cache, extensions.ini, and extensions.rdf
- Navigate to the "extensions" subdirectory. Delete the folder "staged-xpis".
- Restart Firefox. It'll recreate the files you deleted and your all your extensions will be back in action.
This is the first time I've ever had a major problem with a Mozilla application.
