Podcasting Behind the Wheel

Just driving and talking to myself. I thought I made another recording right after this one of my wife and I talking in the car in Japanese, but for some reason it was ten minutes of silence. It’s not easy (or safe) to mess with recording equipment while driving.

  1. The problem with the porn analogy (no pun intended) is that even with amateur porn, it’s still pretty fake most of the time. Otherwise, yeah, it’s nice because it’s real. It’s like a one-way phone conversation, so you expect that a point of some sort is being made, and it feels active (as opposed to passive), but there is no burden of response… Which means I can listen while at work.

I think the appeal is that it’s more personal. It feels like you are talking directly to each of us, and that won’t happen if you get two guys who are immitating drive-time radio jackasses, or if they cut out all of the silence between words and remove all the little errors, notes-to-self, and background noise.

All of this isn’t to say I don’t appreciate the work being put into the videos. That’s a different story. Video is a passive medium, right? In the future, I expect more special effects, storyboarded adventures, and maybe an antagonist of some sort to enter the picture. Then we could get some wire-work and CG fighting moves. Also sell some T-shirts on the site. I think a good one would be your face, done in the style of the Che Guevara shirts.

  2. I have enjoyed cathing up on your videos and am looking forward to more. Keep up the good work
