iPod Video!

I re-encoded the last two videos for iPod. Someone with a brand-spankin’ new iPod, please download them and let me know how they look and sound.

I’ve been checking out the other video podcasts tonight, mostly to reverse engineer the encoding settings they used. My favorite so far is Democracy Now. Yes, I’m a Bush-hating leftist liberal.

  1. I’m all over the anti-Bush-ness, my friend. . .just imagine . . .if you hate him that much from over there how it is having to be here with him. Yeah. Japan is just that more appealing when you remember what the Republican Christian-right. lol
Anyway, I’m at work and have been listening to your podcasts in succession all day. Very good. I have to say too. . . .I’m listening to your Akasaka podcast and your conversation with the Nigerian “entrepreneur” made me laugh my ass off. I also noticed that you seem to really like being solicited by them. I understand it now because it apprently provides some hilaious conversations.

    1. That’s my favorite episode. I still laugh when I listen to it.

The same night I had a long, long, LONG converation with another Nigerian guy who seemed really happy to have someone to talk to. It might be interesting. I’ll have to find it and listen to it again.

      1. I had known all about the brothels and all of that, but I was very suprised by the fact that apparently . . .almost everybody hawking the places are Nigerian. That’s so crazy. . .
Also: Most of the Ocha here in America is from Hawaii, so it has honey in it. You can get regular bottled Ocha as well as Calpis and Pocari (I LOVE Pocari, but it’s $5 a bottle) from Japanese grocery stores. Oh. . .and yes. . .Hawaiian Ocha is disgusting. The honey adds a reallt nasty taste-contrast to it.
And of course: one last thing. Listening to the bed-time podcast. . .I laughed my ass off when I heard a certain White and Blue zebra’s tail referred to as it’s “Chin Chin”. I’m willing to bet you were a bit relieved that you mother wouldn’t understand that part. lol

  2. Did you ever figure out the settings needed to show widescreen on the ipod? I mean do I just publish at 427×240 and the ipod video will resize properly, or is there a target resolution that I need to focus on?

    Thanks,

  3. Hey,

I enjoyed the Roppongi Tour clip.. I work there every weekday in Roppongi Hills, but the place at night never ceases to amaze me..

Back in 2000 and 2001, we used to camp out on a street corner and interview random people walking by.. We stayed till morning, so the interviews got crazier as the night went on.. I think there are still some up at robpongi.com.. And a couple here:
TDV Comedy. Check out ‘Therapuetacism’ and ‘Personal Christmas’..

Anyway, just stopped off to say hi.. I noticed we’re on a lot of the same searches that come up in iTunes. Keep up the good work.

  4. I’m assuming from the comments here no one’s tried your videos on thier ipod. on my video ipod the shibuya store episode works fine, but the conveyor belt sushi one won’t load, and the ramune video dosen’t show up on the list. Those are the only one’s i’ve tried.

    1. Same thing happened to me, basically. Most of the clips don’t seem to load. They’ll just sit there for a minute, then it’ll go right back to the menu. And, like Ryan, some just don’t show up in the list. Strange… But, I was able to watch them on the computer. Very nice house, btw.

P.S. Your kids are insane. (that is amusing, from a viewer standpoint) ;p
