I just realized this
When I was doing podcasts and vlogs, I wanted to be like Fred Rogers. Honest, open, accepting, and I wanted my message to be beneficial to others. But I lost my confidence.

They were (are) all of those things. You were there at the core. There was a lot of lessons there on how to accept people and tolerate, even the stuff kids do. There was a sense of wonder and just enough geek stuff for us internet nerds. Who would have thought to put a video camera on an RC car. You also showed in your actions how to reach out and help people. Simple and brave things in these times when everyone is in their own little bubble. I also enjoyed your perspective of life for an American in Japan. (the original draw for me as a listener) But it turned into much more than that. You don't have to think about the confidence. Just talk, film, write, express. You have a gift whether you know it or not.

Yours was the first podcast that I ever listened too (years later im now a podcast junkie) and is my most favorite of anything I've ever listened too. When I listen back to your old episodes it brings me back to the times when I was first listening. Good memories all around.
hey,
I have came across your podcast trough TokyoCalling. Which now unfortuantely is over…
I like your old episodes and hope this is not pernament pause after all…
I have same problem with my audience (wouldnt like some of people I know to listen, so I never talk about my podcasting with firned and family. (espacially with familly).
I think podcasting is too adicting to just quit.
My advice is- set up brand new podcasting project on the side from HFJ
I hope to HEAR from you soon
Have a lovely easter time…

Wear a beige cardigan, it'll help channel Mr. Rogers.
I'll send you my autographed picture of Mr. McFeely if it'll get you podcasting again.
Hey! Keep doing your videos! It's great to see what it's like in Japan!
Rich, I'm glad to see you're at least posting again. As for podcasting or vlogging, I stand by what I said the last time (I think) we had dinner together (at the Indian place in Shinjuku-3chome.) If you've forgotten what I said, e-mail me and we can drink enough for you to forget it a second time.

Hi- I have no input in this, because this is the first time I came to your blog from the stupid "The Love Machine" article on Snopes (where someone else directed me to, because obviously, Japan's a country full of pervs and creeps (though I would have to admit that some people are pretty creepy… but there are those EVERYWHERE…).
So I came to say thanks for "The FINAL word on used panty vending machines in Japan." entry.
I hope you feel better soon.
Hay rich I thought of a subject for you. Kind of edgy but it is clean (swearing/drug reference wise). The subject is "Abortion in Japan". Haven't really heard other people or news organizations report about it and even the wiki is pretty sparse.
Yeah, nothing you had to say was beneficial at all. Totally worthless. An American guy living the life of a Japanese salaryman? Complete bullshit. Seems like that's what you'd really like to believe, but then again, ask yourself why you have the listenership/readership that you do? Or why *I'm* still hangin' around? Or why all these people still hit your site constantly, waiting for your next move…
