Okinawa is mighty pissed off
This week's news about a 38 year old US marine stationed in Okinawa abducting and raping a junior high school girl has overtaken the headlines from last week's frenzy about gyoza ("Dumplings." I hate that word.) imported from China that were contaminated with insecticide. In a nutshell, Okinawa wants the US military off their land and they want the federal government to come up with a concrete plan to make sure that their citizens are never again the victims of crimes perpetrated by members of the US military. I get the impression that the American people and government don't understand just how pissed off Okinawa is right now. The crap's really hitting the proverbial fan right now. I'm glad I don't live in Okinawa.

Yeah, I m in Okinawa…but not on Main Island Okinawa where all the jarheads and bases are…but still feel the tension daily…you should have been here in '95 when 3 jarhead Marines abducted and raped an elementary school girl…I was openly threatened once just walking down the street!
But let's turn this around, Rich…you think if it was the other way around. U.S. residents would be out for blood…not the case (yet) in Okinawa after decades and decades of putting up with this shit…yes, that is right…it is not anything new down here! Uggghhh!
