A question for you all

What advertisments do you remember hearing on podcasts or seeing in videocasts? Other than GoDaddy. The reason I ask is because Kana and I are making plans for sumthin’ potentially big and cool, and I need an idea of what caliber of sponsors we should persue.

BTW, anyone wondering why I’m not podcasting? It’s because I’m building up my balls by blogging. I’m experiencing some mental constipation lately. To go with the regular kind, I guess. Writing by myself is easier than talking by myself. That and I’m very busy at work lately. Haven’t slept since yesterday. I have a sumatra IV hooked up here. I’m mainlining the stuff.

  1. I’m not familiar with any other than, as you said, Godaddy and a few others that diggnation and DL.tv have.

If at all possible push your idea forward, gain an audience, listen to your audience, and sponsors will surface. I don’t think promotion will be an issue if a bit of your fan base takes to it.

  2. Yeah I’m with Kyle on this one. I only remember the big ones that TWIT, DIGGNATION, and a few others always mentioned like Godaddy, Dell, and Amazon.com.

Although I do remember http://www.smartmarkvideo.com if anyone likes wrestling related videos and stuff.

Podcasting as a whole is still a niche audience though. So I’d just stick with the computer related stuff.

  3. Just like with regular television and radio, when the ads are repeated too often, I learn to tune them out. Having said that, the PSA ads from Joe Cartoon are stuck in my head. “there were stack of heads, chizzlin, in the heezy” “homie was flossin’ his grip of cheddar” “what am I? A larva? A burrito? You’re too fat to be a joint!” I don’t have kids, but at least now I know how to talk to them about drugs.

  4. nerds on site, astaro, some debt reduction company, aol, dell. I know there are more but thats what comes to mind at the moment.

  5. When Adam Curry used to burp and then instead of saying pardon or excuse me, he would say senseo. That stuck with me, and mixed with his constant descriptions of how the delicious crema on the coffee was so good. . .I actually went out and bought one.

I think the point I’m trying to make is that, Pepsi pay millions of pounds/dollars on getting the England football team in there advert, yet I still drink coka cola, but belching sold me a coffee machine. . .this isn’t really helping is it?
