So *that's* what death metal sounds like.

February 8th, 2007 · 3 Comments

Last.fm is a terrific way to explore new and exciting genres of music. Just now I discovered that this "death metal" music I've heard so much about sounds like the grumblings my tummy makes when I'm hungry, singing along to a herd of pigs stuffed into car crusher.

Suddenly I feel the urge to crap myself inside out. Perhaps I should turn down the volume.

Better than deathmetal is hyper-punk electronic shit like Polysics. I actually like them though. Really funa and high energy. State side I don't think they are too famous, but I think they are quite successful in Europe, and no doubt in their native Japan.

The technical term for the style of "singing" is death grunt. But I think a more apt (and more descriptive) name is Cookie Monster singing.

I wonder if people actually sing along…
