Yeah photobucket has tried there hand at a community, but it hasn't worked to well.

heck yes you should. Photobucket, to me at least, seems to be a place to host pictures. Flickr is a photography community. People look through other's pictures and leave comments and such. It's also a great place to host photos as well.

He's not paying bandwidth for thumbnail images (flickr hosted), only the page that lists them.
You can get a WP plugin to do it on your site:

I came across this the other day as well. It certainly is nice to use while browsing people's streams. Flickr really needs to optimize their ui :\
