All my ATA drives are OK. And I figured out what to do with them–find cheap external USB enclosures and use them for backup.

Ouch, when stuff breaks on pc's it can take most of the main componants out at once. 1 ide is crazy, although I have 2 sata drives.
Have you lost all your data on the hd that broke?
