In my opinion, you have to be able to hear what you're recording. In fact I like to use earbuds that isolate the sound so that I hear only what's being recorded through the mics.

These are the mics I was using until they recently broke:

The alligator clips chewed the hell out of the arms of my plastic frame glasses. I'd recommend clipping them to the edges of a baseball hat instead.

Carl,

You don't need to renouce your nationality to live in Japan. All you need is an employer who will sponsor your visa. Or a spouse.

If you're here on a working visa, you need to renew it every one or three years. After so many years here, you can apply for permanent residence, which means you no longer need to make the trip to the immigration bureau. If you want to know the nitty-gritty details, I'm the wrong person to ask. I tend to fly by the seat of my pants, which is a nice way of saying I have my head up my ass most of the time when it comes to legal stuff.

Hey Rich well I want to move to Japan and live there to, what does it take to get your citizenship, because I know that you have to do a lot of things and like qualify because of the population overcrowding, right?

Rich, thanks for your reply.

Which model do/did you use? I am looking at the headphone mounted version -- but haven't been able to find any samples on the net. Do use this version or the lapel one?

I think they break because I carry them around all the time and they end up taking a beating. I'd recommend taking a look at www.soundprofessionals.com or www.giant-squid-audio-lab.com. Or find a friend who knows how to solder and can make you a pair.

Hi, herro flom japan

Sorry to hear you aren't sleeping so well lately. I heard you broke your binaural microphone, which ones do you use/recommend? And why do you think they keep breaking (because I want to invest in some and they can be quite pricey!)
