Too True

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one getting burned.

  1. Conquer anger with non-anger;
    Conquer wickedness with goodness;
    Conquer stinginess with giving,
    And a liar with truth.

    A hand that has no wounds
    Can carry poison;
    Poison does not enter without a wound.
    There are no evil consequences
    For one who does no evil.

    Like fine dust thrown against the wind,
    Evil comes back to the fool
    Who harms a person who is
    Innocent, pure, and unblemished.

    You should read the Tao Te Ching if you haven’t be4 Rich, it is very good as well.

  2. Buddha is implying that you need to throw your anger at someone quickly to avoid burning yourself.

  3. Holding onto anger is like holding a big bag of sugar with the intent of pouring it in someone’s gas tank; Sweet, delicious sugar.

  4. Hey the podcasts are awesome! Also how often do you hear about Utada Hikaru? I love her music, think you could do a podcast on her? And do you have any tips on learning to read, write, and speak Japanese?

    1. I couldn’t say anything that hasn’t already been said about Utada Hikaru. For me, it’s a whole lot more fun and satisfying to give unknown artists a worldwide audience.

  5. Rich, I hope that things are well. I hope that you will continue with your 50 podcasts…I think you are speaking for the good of Japanese and for many others who listen. I hope that you can help the many Japanese aratists spread their music, because their dream, like many aratists, is to share their music and art.

    1. Thanks, I’ll still here. It’s just that the new goddamn computer I’m setting up so I can edit goddamn video is teaching me patience. When it’s done I’ll put something out.

  6. Love the show! Been listening since show 3 or 4.
    I think you have inproved about 50% since you have started.
    I’m always interested in japanese culture. It seem like sometimes you are a little hard on yourself. Are you always late when you make a podcast or do i just notice when you are.

    Have a great day!

    (P.S. say out load “Oh what a silly goose I am”)

  7. Anger is like a forest fire destroying everything good within you. It’s amazing how it makes you feel horrible to hold it in, and it makes you feel horrible to let it out. The only way to win that type of game is to not play.

    How about a nice game of chess?
