The Roller Side at Yu-Land

I shot this video a few months ago during the dog days of summer. I know, I know, I’m shittin’ it out mighty late, but I edited it today so it counts towards the promised 50 in 50 days.

Yu-Land is an onsen and park on the outskirts of Koga that I take the kids to every so often. In the video, that constant drone you hear in the background is the sound of cicadas.

  1. Great video Rich. No worries about the quality of the 50 in 50 podcasts. Listening to another human spew takes a little away from what I find wrong in my life too. Great to know you still find time to kick back with the kids too. Life can catch up to us all, let’s at least enjoy it while we’re here. 😀

  2. “for the love of god” how did you resist posting this last summer? That was really good stuff! Fun with the kids at a cool park, showing off the good dad skillz.
I was wondering, did you do the subs last night or back when you originally recorded this.

    1. It was anxiety that kept me from editing it sooner. A vicious cycle between the two thoughts, “I have to do this perfectly,” and “I can’t.”

I did the subs last night. It’s one of the flavors of titling that Windows Movie Maker offers. To me they seem a little too high up, but that’s an example of how it doesn’t let you tweak settings ad nauseum.

  3. Rich, great podcast you’re doing here. totally hooked. i must agree with everyone else, the subtitles were brilliant, especially the flashing red one at the end! i remember i had fun on one of those roller slides when i was in a random park near osaka somewhere.

    keep up the good work!
