Anyone got a 5G video iPod yet?

Published by Rich Pav at 12:05 pm under General

If you do, could you let me know how it displays the widescreen videos I made? Do they play? Do they look smooshed, or does the iPod letterbox the video?

Herro flom Germany! (first time I am leaving a comment here ;-) )

I don't have my iPod yet, I hope I get it on Monday, but your widescreen videos won't run on it. You use H.264 and the iPod only supports a resolution up to 320×240 when this codec is in use. Normal MPEG4 movies can be displayed up to a resolution of 480×480, so your other videos should run.

Widescreen itself is not a real problem, you can get a letterboxed version of the video or you can choose fullscreen, but if you do so, on the left and right side parts of the video will be cut.

Aaaaaah, shit. Good thing I archived the final versions as DV files. Thanks for the info, Mattias.

I'm glad though that it'll handle widescreen as long as I don't make them too wide.
