Yeah, yeah, yeah…I’m still alive.

Do you want to know the truth? I hate editing audio. It seems like I’d rather do almost anything else. I need an attitude adjustment.

So what did I do last night when I should have been cleaning up the recordings I made at the Apple Store two weeks ago? I was surfing digg.com. I love that site. Their podcast is good too. Listen with friends and drink every time one of them say “dude.” You’ll get really fu*ked up.

The new visitor map helps me feel guilty for not putting out a podcast. I paid for the expanded version that shows the last 100 visitors to push my guilt to the next level.

Totally irrelevant, but it’s my blog, so here goes: Has anyone using Windows 2000 noticed their computer has become really, really slow since installing last week’s security update? Recently some of our workstations at work are one by one becoming painfully slow, but I can’t track down the cause. That patch was rushed out, which makes me suspect it’s the culprit.

Here’s a new Google Map/MSN Virtual Earth/Flash mashup. This is the location of the Apple Store in Shibuya. You can see the line of trees that camoflage it. Here’s where I want to record my next podcast. The Cicadas, crows and other birds in this park sound amazing. The building to the west is the Canadian Embassy. The smaller building to the southwest is the ambassador’s residence, and a little further to the southwest are the living quarters of the Embassy staff. Nice digs.

From now, I go shopping for some hot-swappable hard drives so we can keep a copy of our company data offsite at all times. All the recent earthquakes have my boss seriously thinking about disaster recovery, which is good.

  1. Oh dude… I also hate editing audio, especially of my voice! Which is why I’ve stopped speaking in my podcasts and only feature music. Although at some point I’ll have to make an announcement or two… I’m sure.

And here’s another interesting podcast site you may find.. uh… interesting:

    1. Anything that’s geared towards helping Japanese speak better English is usually tedious and very, very stilted. One of the most popular podcasts in Japanese is “English Vitamin,” in which an American and his Japanese wife over-annunciate and use prases that sound like the Lesson Of The Day from an ESL textbook. I have an idea to kick the living shit out of that paradigm, and I’m in the process of trying to convince a native speaker friend of mine to help.

  2. English Vitamin is ok but a Engrish / English podcast would be more fun !! =D

Oh yeah ! You just updated to Win2000… =S Why didn’t you go for 2003 ? (Just curious btw! ) I’m riding WinVista right now… Yes! It’s just XP with a new skin… Hum?! Off topic!

Anyway! I’ve just finish the “Mes aventures au Japon” Podcast (I really don’t know how I managed that…) (I guess that the major happening of that podcast is this poor guy getting is umbrella stolen 5 time in a row!!) =D and it reminded me that a new Herro Flom Japan podcast would be vely interesting ! =D (No pressure! Take your time! Governor took 3 months before submitting to my request!!) =D

And finally, my closing argument! Don’t be to much of a critic on yourself. Being able to judge your own work with perspective is nice but if everyone tells you that they like your work just accept that you’re doing something right somewhere !!

    Amen !

  3. Hi Rich,

I haven’t noticed any slowdown with Windows 2000 after the patch was made available as of yet. Mind you we are using the International English version so maybe the patch is regression tested with that?

Thanks for the heads up, will keep an eye out for it, and if I come across anything, I’ll let you know 🙂
